Bayshore Past

Bayshore Home | Bayshore Community

There are a lot of documents and pictures in the Bayshore Office files. One part of the collection is in an album. Mary Sue Reagan suggested that there might be a few things in this album worth sharing with all who use this website.

Boy! What an understatement. The album is a veritable treasure trove. The webmaster will be adding scans to this page in the coming weeks as he sorts through all of the clippings, photos, and documents and scans some of them.

Any of the pictures on this page can be downloaded and saved to your computer by putting the pointer on the picture, mouse down (while holding down control on some computers), drag to "save image as, save image to disk, or whatever text your browser uses", mouse up ..... then follow the dialogue and save the picture file to the place you wish.

And now .............

Originally there was nothing but surf and sand.

Long before paved roads there were stage roads which left some of their bones in Bayshore.

Then the developers came with plans. They put in some paved roads and dug some canals.

On 9-23-63 Governor Mark Hatfield came and declared all of this to be good.

The developers so liked Gov. Hatfield's visit that they created their own newspaper in order to preserve comments from around the state. The front page, scanned and preserved as a 432 KB 600 dpi image, can be viewed here. click to see

At a later time others said, "We need grass." And so the planting began.

Then the promoters started beating their drums.

But .......... things did not always go as planned!

On May 6, 1994 the U.S. Geological Survey took some aerial photographs of the area. They now reside on the MSN Terraserver. The images are maneuverable by us so we can get a closer look or we can look at nearby areas as well. To see Bayshore ...... click here.
