Amtrak declared May 8, 2010 to be "National Train Day" and all of the rail groups in Portland, OR, responded with displays, tours, memorabilia sales and a great attitude, as always. The National Railway Historical Society, Pacific Northwest Chapter, the Friends of 4449, The Pacific Railway Preservation Association, Oregon Pacific Railroad, Amtrak, BNSF, and many other groups featuring G scale model railroads, new preservation efforts, and a miriad of rail subjects, all convened at Portland Union Station. Amtrak provided tours of a Talgo set, Chris McClarney's caboose and the Mount Hood passenger car were set up for tours, cab tours of the 4449 were held and the folks showed up in droves. I would guess in the thousands, as was the case last year.

The crowds are gathering

Railfans of all ages arrived

Al and Judy Hall, ever volunteers

4449 always draws a crowd

Afternoon clouds made this quite a scene

Who is this railfan to the right of the couple?
