This stone is 10mm in diameter X 2mm thick. The green transparent layer is only 1mm thick.
To cut a faceted stone 10mm in diameter you would need at least 7mm of depth.
However one green layer, with the rest transparent, would flood the whole stone with color.
Even with the inclusion, in a silver setting this
could go for $200.00 to $350.00.
I could have trimmed it down and left out the white cloudy area
and the black inclusion,
and ended up with a 5mm perfect stone.
In a faceted one I might have done that,
But cabochons have a lot more leeway in what has value. This way it looks like Earth from space.
With Faceted stones the setting just frames the main interest "the stone".
Cabochons on the other hand, combine with the metal and other materials
to give a much more artistic
expression "in design".
