Philip is now 27 weeks old. This morning he had his 6-month well-baby check-up. Everything checked out ok. Phil now weighs 19 lbs., 6 oz.; he is 2 ft., 2-1/4 in. tall.

In the past month, Philip went on a road trip to Central and Southern California. He spent the night with Gramma and Grampa Mikesell on the way down to visit his Grammy and Poppa Marshall in Ventura. In Southern California, Philip got together again with the Gutierrez family, Auntie Laura, great-grampa Al and mama’s aunt, uncle, and cousins. Phil also sat on Santa’s lap for the first time. After Ventura, Phil went back up to Los Banos for a few days and got together with Aunt Julia one evening at the outlet stores in Gilroy. Phil enjoyed a quiet Christmas and New Year’s Eve/Day at home. He thanks you all for your warm wishes and gifts.

Philip continues to become more mobile, rolling himself around the floor and crib. He’s not crawling yet, but can prop himself up on his hands like a seal. Phil has discovered that his Johnny-Jump-Up is fun for jumping and is developing better hand-eye (or hand-mouth, as the case may be) coordination. His singing skills continue to develop, and he even sang along with the final hymn in church last Sunday. Phil has begun to eat rice cereal, but is mostly still nursing with mom. Philip has two bottom teeth in, and knows how to use them — OUCH!
