We parishioners at St. Anthony would like to thank Father Davis Variath for saying Masses on the weekend of July 4. Fr. Davis provided a personal story of his start in Priesthood, which was very interesting and at times frightening. (Jim F comment--We are so lucky to have been born in the USA and had not the experiences of Fr. Davis.) Fr. Davis is serving as a missionary in the Northeast Province of India. He is originally from the Archdiocese of Kerala, and a member of the Congregation of the Holy Cross. He is studying for his Master's Degree at the University of Portland and will be returning to his Mission in India in January 2011.

If you are interested in contacting Fr. Davis and possibly sponsoring one of the children, many orphans, in his Mission, he can be contacted as follows:

Our parishioners have been very generous in providing gifts for children in the local area who may not otherwise receive gifts for Christmas. This is our "Giving Tree," where our folks took tags off the tree and purchased gifts defined on those tags, to be distributed by South Lincoln Resources to local children. Thank you to all of you who participated in this endeavour, giving of yourselves as Jesus did for all of us.

Our Christmas Bazaar took place on Saturday, November 14, and as usual, many parishioners put in long hours of work preparing for this event. Thanks to all of you for making this a financial success.

July 31, the Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, found our own S.J. Father Gerard Steckler returning from a two month hiatus and concelebrating Mass with Father Bernard D'Sa, of the order of St. Francis Xavier, the Pilar order. This would be Father D'Sa's final Mass at St. Anthony. He will be returning to India in a few weeks.

Our Esther even played the Clavinova, a welcome surprise.

July 26, the church is ready for morning Mass, new carpeting installed.

Then we had a farewell luncheon for Father D'Sa, who has captured our hearts. The first photo of the attendees includes Denny, who made a great (and short) speech,Gary Boyd, Father, Tim, Robin, Maryanne, and the unsung hero servers Jack and Terry in the back.

Some of the parishioners and guests at Father D'Sa's luncheon.
